Tipoff

Terms of Service

Effective date: August 4, 2026

PLEASE READ THESE TERMS OF SERVICE CAREFULLY. BY CREATING AN ACCOUNT, REGISTERING A TEAM, CREATING A TOURNAMENT, OR OTHERWISE ACCESSING OR USING THE SERVICE, YOU AGREE TO BE BOUND BY THIS AGREEMENT. DO NOT ACCESS OR USE THE SERVICE IF YOU ARE UNWILLING OR UNABLE TO BE BOUND BY IT.

These Terms of Service, together with the Privacy Policy (collectively, this “Agreement”), are a legally binding agreement between Great Escape Web Services (dba Tipoff) (“Tipoff”, “we”, “us”) and you, an individual end user (“You”). Tipoff provides the software platform available at tipoffhoops.com, including all related pages, features, and communications (the “Service”).

We may amend this Agreement from time to time by posting an amended version on this page and, where the change is material, notifying You by email or through the Service. Amendments become effective 30 days after notice unless You first close your account. Your continued use of the Service after the effective date of an amendment confirms your acceptance of it.

1. Use of the Service

1.1. Eligibility. You must be 18 years of age or older to create an account. Team captains and organizers who add other people to a roster (including minors) represent that they have that person's consent — or a parent or guardian's consent — to do so.

1.2. License. Tipoff grants You a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to access and use the Service for organizing, joining, and following basketball tournaments. The Service is licensed, not sold; You receive no rights other than those specifically granted here.

1.3. Revisions. We may revise the features and functions of the Service at any time.

1.4. Your account. You are responsible for your use of the Service and for any use through your account, whether authorized or not. Take reasonable steps to protect your password, and notify us immediately at support@tipoffhoops.com if You know of or suspect unauthorized use of your account.

2. Tournaments Are Run by Independent Organizers

2.1. Tipoff is a software platform. Tournaments listed on the Service are created, priced, and operated by independent organizers — not by Tipoff. The organizer, not Tipoff, is responsible for the event: the venue, scheduling, rules of play, officiating, safety, staffing, insurance, permits, refunds, and compliance with law. Except for payment processing described in Article 3, any transaction or dispute regarding a tournament is between You and the organizer.

2.2. Assumption of risk. BASKETBALL IS A PHYSICAL SPORT AND CARRIES RISK OF INJURY. BY REGISTERING FOR, PARTICIPATING IN, OR ATTENDING A TOURNAMENT DISCOVERED OR MANAGED THROUGH THE SERVICE, YOU VOLUNTARILY ACCEPT AND ASSUME ALL RISKS OF INJURY OR LOSS INCURRED WHILE PARTICIPATING IN OR OBSERVING THE ACTIVITIES AND WHILE ON THE FACILITIES WHERE THEY ARE HELD. TIPOFF DOES NOT OPERATE, INSPECT, OR SUPERVISE VENUES OR EVENTS.

2.3. Interactions with other users. You are solely responsible for your interactions with other users of the Service, including organizers, captains, players, and spectators. We may monitor or become involved in disputes but have no obligation to do so.

3. Payments, Fees & Refunds

3.1. Payment processing.Payments on the Service are processed by Stripe, Inc. (“Stripe”). Entry fees are paid directly to the organizer's connected Stripe account; Tipoff does not hold your funds. By paying through the Service You also agree to Stripe's applicable terms. Tipoff never sees or stores your card number.

3.2. Fees.Organizers receive the entry fee they set. A Tipoff platform fee and Stripe's payment-processing fees are added to the entry fee and shown to You at checkout before You pay. Completing a payment confirms that You are the cardholder (or are authorized by the cardholder) and that the purchase is made voluntarily with full consent.

3.3. Refunds.Refunds of entry fees are at the organizer's discretion unless required by law. When an organizer issues a refund through the Service, the full amount You paid — including fees — is returned to your original payment method, typically within 5–10 business days. Tipoff may, in its sole discretion, facilitate a refund where an event is cancelled and the organizer is unresponsive, but Tipoff is not obligated to fund refunds on an organizer's behalf.

3.4. Organizers. If You collect entry fees as an organizer, You must complete Stripe Connect onboarding, provide accurate information, and use funds and the Service in compliance with law and with Stripe's terms. You are responsible for your event's refund decisions and for any chargebacks, disputes, or fines arising from your event.

4. Text Messages (SMS)

If You opt in to SMS reminders, You agree to receive text messages from Tipoff about your upcoming games and tournament updates. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to any message to opt out, or HELP for help; You can also contact support@tipoffhoops.com. No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes; text-messaging originator opt-in data and consent will not be shared with any third parties.

5. Your Content

5.1. Permission from You.“Your Content” means content You submit through the Service — for example tournament names, descriptions, and photos, team names, roster entries, scores, and profile information. You grant Tipoff a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, sublicensable, transferable license to host, reproduce, display, and distribute Your Content as needed to provide and promote the Service. Much of the Service is public by design: tournament pages, brackets, schedules, team names, player names, and results are visible to anyone.

5.2. Your responsibility. You represent that You own or have the necessary rights to Your Content and that it does not violate any third party's rights, including intellectual property, privacy, or publicity rights. Do not submit content that is unlawful, harassing, defamatory, or fraudulent. We are under no obligation to review or screen content but may amend or remove content and suspend accounts at our discretion.

5.3. Storage. The Service is not a backup service. We may retain, delete, or suspend access to Your Content at any time, subject to the Privacy Policy. We may use aggregated, anonymized data derived from the Service without restriction.

6. Restrictions

If we suspect You have violated this Article, we may suspend or terminate your access without advance notice, in addition to other remedies we may have.

7. Intellectual Property & Feedback

Tipoff retains all right, title, and interest in and to the Service, including all software, graphics, user interfaces, logos, and trademarks, and all content other than Your Content. If You send us suggestions or ideas for improving the Service (“Feedback”), You grant us a perpetual, irrevocable right to use and exploit that Feedback in any way, without compensating or crediting You, and we have no obligation to treat it as confidential.

8. Disclaimers

YOU ACCEPT THE SERVICE “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE,” WITH NO REPRESENTATION OR WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT. WITHOUT LIMITING THE FOREGOING: (a) WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL PERFORM WITHOUT INTERRUPTION OR ERROR; (b) WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE IS SECURE FROM UNAUTHORIZED INTRUSION OR THAT YOUR CONTENT WILL REMAIN PRIVATE OR SECURE; AND (c) WE DISCLAIM ANY REPRESENTATION OR WARRANTY CONCERNING EVENTS, PRODUCTS, OR SERVICES PROVIDED BY ORGANIZERS, OTHER USERS, OR OTHER THIRD PARTIES. LINKS TO THIRD-PARTY WEBSITES ARE PROVIDED FOR CONVENIENCE, AND YOU ACCESS THEM ENTIRELY AT YOUR OWN RISK.

9. Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Tipoff and its officers, owners, employees, agents, successors, and assigns against any third-party claim, suit, or proceeding arising out of, related to, or alleging: (a) infringement or violation of third-party rights by Your Content; (b) your participation in, attendance at, or operation of any tournament; or (c) use of the Service through your account that harasses, defames, or defrauds a third party or violates any law.

10. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, TIPOFF'S TOTAL LIABILITY ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO THIS AGREEMENT WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF $100 OR THE PLATFORM FEES YOU PAID TO TIPOFF IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM AROSE. IN NO EVENT WILL TIPOFF BE LIABLE FOR ANY CONSEQUENTIAL, INDIRECT, SPECIAL, INCIDENTAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES. THESE LIMITS APPLY TO LIABILITY FOR NEGLIGENCE, REGARDLESS OF THE FORM OF ACTION, EVEN IF SUCH DAMAGES WERE FORESEEABLE, AND EVEN IF YOUR REMEDIES FAIL OF THEIR ESSENTIAL PURPOSE. IF APPLICABLE LAW LIMITS THE APPLICATION OF THIS ARTICLE, TIPOFF'S LIABILITY WILL BE LIMITED TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMISSIBLE.

11. Term & Termination

This Agreement is effective from your first use of the Service and continues until terminated. You may stop using the Service and request account deletion at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access at any time for any reason, including violation of this Agreement. Articles 5 (Your Content), 7 (IP & Feedback), 8 (Disclaimers), 9 (Indemnification), 10 (Limitation of Liability), and 12 (Dispute Resolution & General) survive termination.

12. Dispute Resolution & General

12.1. Governing law. This Agreement is governed by the internal laws of the state of Tipoff's principal place of business, without reference to conflicts-of-law principles.

12.2. Arbitration; class waiver. Any dispute arising out of or related to this Agreement that cannot be resolved informally will be submitted to binding arbitration before a single arbitrator under the rules of a recognized arbitration provider agreed by the parties. Judgment on the award may be entered in any court having jurisdiction. You agree to bring claims only in your individual capacity, not as a plaintiff or class member in any purported class, collective, or representative proceeding. YOU AND TIPOFF EACH WAIVE THE RIGHT TO A TRIAL BY JURY AND TO PARTICIPATE IN A CLASS ACTION.

12.3. Notices. We may send notices to the email address or mobile number You provide; such notices are deemed received 24 hours after they are sent. You may send notices to support@tipoffhoops.com; such notices are deemed received 72 hours after they are sent.

12.4. Assignment. You may not assign this Agreement without our written consent. We may assign this Agreement in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of substantially all assets, with notice to You.

12.5. Severability; no waiver; entire agreement. If a provision of this Agreement is held unenforceable, it will be interpreted to fulfill its intended purpose to the maximum extent permitted, and the remaining provisions continue in full force. A failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. This Agreement, with the Privacy Policy, is the entire agreement between You and Tipoff regarding the Service. In the event of a conflict between these Terms and any other Tipoff policy posted online, these Terms govern.
